This learning activities material has been developed for use within the module 'Painting 2'. The activities have been designed to be used in a self-paced, competency-based and well resourced situation. The aim of this module is to further develop the students' painting skills and knowledge, and to increase awareness of their individual beliefs about the messages painting should convey. On successful completion of this module students should be able to: (1) demonstrate the ability to prepare appropriate supports and grounds to provide a variety of painted surfaces; (2) demonstrate the ability to manipulate the range of colours and tonal values a selected medium can produce; (3) demonstrate the ability to solve problems of colour relationships and composition; and (4) demonstrate the ability to identify relationships between painting and other design arts subjects.
